 ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION 2009 – 2010

Sri Vidhya Academy International Residential School
The Fourth Annual Day-2010

Make the best use of the opportunity to study well’,insisted Mr. R.Parthipan, popular cine Director cum actor, while addressing the students of Sri Vidhya Academy International Residential School Chennai-72 in his presidential address on their Annual Day celebrations.

A good ambience,unpolluted air and a good infrastructure creates a conducive atmosphere for studies. Students supported by dedicated faculty members studying in such an atmosphere can, no doubt, do well in studies’, he added .

After his brief address he interacted with the pupils and parents. Many a question were asked about his success. ‘Simplicity should be the watchword, which made one humble, he said. He added that his father was his role model. He also insisted on creativity.

Dr.Nanjil R Kennedy , Chairman of the school presented the welcome address where he referred to Mr. Parthipan,as a poet with reference to his book ‘Kirukkalgal’. Mr. S.Muthukrishnan, Principal read the Annual Report. The programme concluded with the cultural items of the students.


ANNUAL REPORT ON SPORTS ACTIVITIES

The third Annual Sports was conducted on 30 Jan 2009 and Brig. Raviverman was the Chief Guest. IPL Cricket Player Vignesh was a special invite.

Our school provides excellent opportunities for garues & sports. The new academic year started with a positive note of D. Sachin Raaghav of class VII std getting selected to play for the State in the National Junior Sepaktakraw tournament held in Jaipur during May 2009.

Our Skating team participated in the Thiruvallur District level Skating tournament and secured 8 Gold , 6 Silver and 3 bronze.

S.V. Dheeraj of class X std and Yuki Matsumoto class VII std secured 3 Gold medals each. Five of our students out of 7 participated were selected for state level

S.V. Dheeraj of class X secured 3 bronze medals in State level has been selected to represent the state at National level tournament.

Our pupils have practiced March Past and recently they had an opportunity to visit the Wagha Border Retreat Parade.
More and more opportunities are provided in the school for games and sports. We are sure our students will fare well in future in all the games

The Third Annual Day was celebrated on 27th March 2009
Dr.Mayilsamy Annadurai Project Director, Chandrayan, ISRO presided over the function and Mrs.Annaduri gave away the prizes. Sri Vidhyasagar the popular cine music director presided over the cultural programme.

The school reopened 24th June 2009 and Mrs.Nalini Parthibhan, recipient of Dr.Radhakrishnan Award and former principal of Vana vani Mat.Hr.Sec.School addressed the students on the reopening.

The Management had added one more floor to the Academic Block and one floor to the girl’s hostel. The dining halls in the mess have been air conditioned. The constructions of the new auditorium and the library block will be taken up this year.

The second batch of Nine Students appeared for the IGCSE examination this year and all have passed. There was one distinction and three merits.

Function & Celebration

Tree Planting ceremony was celebrated in our school and was initiated by Wing commander VV Menon IAF Avadi in July 2009
by planting trees in our school. The programme was called ‘One Student on tree’. The programme was concluded on 10/08/09 with Mr. Manjunatha IPS, Director of Civil Defence presiding over the function and planting trees.

The Independence Day was celebrated on 15th Aug 09 with
Mr. Clement, Commissioner Income Tax hoisting the National Flag and receiving guard of honour.

The Sports Day was celebrated on 22nd January 2010. GP.Capt. Sanal kumar was the Chief Guest and he was received with guard of honour. He distributed the prizes to various winners and champions.

Children’s Day was celebrated by inviting the handicapped students from Sruti.

Karthigai Deepam was celebrated on and a Rangoli competition was held. Smt. Manjula, Manager IndusInd Bank, Anna Nagar was the Chief Guest. After her lighting Kuthu Vilakku, the school was illuminated by our students.

Pongal was celebrated on 13th January 2010 with the usual enthusiasm. Pongal was prepared in the open by the staff and students and was shared.

Activities
The school takes students on educational tours that are adventure oriented. The students of higher classes were taken on a tour to Delhi, Amrithasar and Dalhousie. They attended the retreat parade at Wagha Border. They underwent a three day trekking programme in Dalhousie. They also paid homage to the victims of 9/11 Mumbai Blast. The local newspapers gave a wide coverage.

The students of the Junior classes were taken to Ahmadabad, Dwaraka, Porbandar and Somnath in December 2009.
The students undertake various activities under various clubs.

Photography club
There were two training programme in Basic Photography: one for Seniors and another for Juniors. The classes were conducted by Dr. T.P.Alaganandhan a member of Madras Photography Club. The Photography club was inaugurated by Mr. K.V. Anand a famous cinematic photographer.

Cooking club, Environmental club, Dextro club, Intellectual club, Dramatic club, Readers’ club, Speakers’ club, Singing club, Science club, and Writers club are the various club under which extra curricular activities go on.

Visitors

Mr. Subramaniyam addressed the student’s on reptiles & Environment in early August of a delegate of teachers from the Alliance France interacted with the students about various opportunities in
